The timing belt—also known as a synchronous belt—is a critical precision component in industrial drive systems and automotive powertrains. Its surface features evenly spaced teeth designed to mesh precisely with the grooves of the pulleys. Unlike conventional flat belts or V-belts that rely on friction, timing belts utilize positive engagement (meshing) to achieve slip-free mechanical synchronization, ensuring precision and timing accuracy in power transmission.
